three cameras with no battery?

I replaced my one fancy digital SLR with three film cameras and by some strange coincidence

all of my “new” cameras are battery free?

Camera #1: The zero image 612F is a multi-format pinhole camera. It’s the camera at the very bottom of this image. www.zeroimage.com

Camera #2: A deluxe modified Holga from www.holgamods.com. It's really a lot more fun to shoot with than I expected!

Camera #3: This one is on the way. It's a refurbished Olympus Trip 35 from the 70's. The Trip is a zone focus, 35mm camera that uses solar power to run the light meter. Seriously? Yes, seriously! Purchased from http://www.tripman.co.uk/

Camera #4: I thought you said there were only three? I did say three. This one is a backup camera to the Trip and should see very limited use. My dad gave me his old Nikon EM. I believe he got it around 1979/1980. He hadn't used it for years. I had it cleaned and adjusted and it's still working great! It uses a battery.

go ahead. jump in. it’s not that cold…

It’s a cold rainy day in Davis. A perfect day to take the plunge…

So I sold all my digital photography equipment and tonight I start the Black and White Developing/Printing class at the UCD Craft Center. Everyday is a new adventure :-)

Marita Madeloni - YOU'RE INSANE!!!!!!!

warren - yes.... i am insane. and it feels good :-) talk to you soon!

Rebecca Hager - My mom took that (or one like it) when I was little, and she used to let me help. She LOVED it! I'm excited for you :)

images from ecuador

In December of 2009 I flew to Ecuador to spend some time with my wife Amy at Estacion De Biodiversidad Tiputini where she was doing research. In my six days there I saw 9 species of primates, 3 jaguars, one bush dog, and more birds than I can count! Here’s the website for Tiputini —> (http://192.188.53.69/tiputini/)

After Tiputini we traveled to the Bosque Nublado (cloud forest) and spent time at Maquipucuna and Santa Lucia (http://maqui.myweb.uga.edu/ & http://www.santaluciaecuador.com/).

What a great trip!

(My friend Marita told me not to put so many images in my slideshows but I can’t help it. Maybe look a half of them today and half tomorrow? Enjoy!)

Lady A and Her Heel Draggers (Davis Music Photography)

Last year on my birthday (it seems so long ago) I went out to hear some music in Downtown Davis. I didn’t know who was playing that night but as I strolled past Sophia’s I decided to stop and check out an SF based western swing band called Lady A and Her Heel Draggers. I squeezed my way up to the front of the crowd (it was jam packed on the deck that night) and grabbed a couple of shots (not drinks – i mean shots with the camera) and settled in for a night of good music.

(The first two shots are the Heel Draggers. Shots 3 though 5 are of the opening band called Ben Lewis and My New Best Friends)
